Media Systems Planning

Existing Facility or System

Many existing facilities do not require the design of new systems or acoustical planning.  Instead, only minor adjustments or modifications may be needed to provide the quality of audio or visual communication and illumination desired by the client.  To determine the needs and conditions of an existing facility or system, one or more of our staff members will visit the site and conduct an on-site evaluation.  After consulting with the client, we will specify any improvements required for the media system(s) or building.  If necessary, we can provide any or all of the services listed below.

New Facilities

Our firm's involvement may begin on any new project at the conceptual drawing stage.  This provides assistance for the architects/engineers and clients in the initial planning of the facility.  Some of the typical areas to be planned at this stage are:

bulletNatural enhancement of sound and elimination of echoes by properly shaped walls and ceilings
bulletProper room volume and ceiling clearance for both audio and lighting
bulletOptimum reverberation time and noise curve
bulletRemote location of noise generating areas from noise sensitive rooms
bulletAllocation of space and access for lighting and sound systems along with any associated equipment
bulletBudget guidelines for systems based upon the client's needs and requests

During the intermediate design phase between conceptual drawings and 90% plans, these areas are typically planned:

bulletWall and ceiling coverings necessary for proper reverberation time and reflection reduction

bulletConduit details and drawings for all sound, video, or lighting system control wire routing
bulletWall specifications to reduce sound transmissions into adjacent areas
bulletExact electrical and space allocations for all media equipment

At various stages after the 90% plans, the following services are typically provided:

bulletCompletion of system design with drawings
bulletPreparation of contract bid documents
bulletInstallation and supervision of media systems and other related trades
bulletFinal system testing, calibration, training, and maintenance contracts
